Apartment Style…

I’m so excited to share a few photos of my new apartment!  About 5 days ago, I moved into this pretty little studio apartment right next to USC.  Life has been kind of crazy lately, which is why I am glad that I only had to move a few floors up from my old apartment and had plenty of help throughout the process.

Although I did not have to move any furniture (as the building provides it), I had a lot of other stuff to move.  My only advice to students who might be moving soon is to invest in THIS awesome wagon!  It is a little pricey, but it holds a lot of weight.  After countless trips to CVS, Target, and Michael’s, this is how it all turned out!  I really wanted it to feel like more than a “college apartment” since I am going into my senior year and it is likely that I’ll continue to use these items after graduation.  Overall, I love having all of this extra space.  I am thoroughly enjoying living this close to my school, my friends, USC’s Greek Row, and downtown Los Angeles!

If you happen to have any questions about items below, leave them in the comments and I’d be happy to help.  For more product details, check out my Instagram account!  Enjoy!

Summer Style with Sand Cloud!

{Model: my adorable sister!}

Today I’m sharing a spotlight post about a new company called Sand Cloud.  As a small business owner myself, I love highlighting other small businesses and spreading the word about new, innovative products!

First things first – how adorable is my younger sister?  She was so kind as to model my new favorite summer accessory, brought to you by a company called Sand Cloud.  If you’re looking to upgrade your towel game and relax on the beach, you’ve come to the right place.  Sand Cloud was founded a year ago by three San Diego natives with a bright idea.  Their one-of-a-kind beach accessory has been featured on the San Diego 6 News and has become a fast favorite of beach-goers.  If you’re wondering what makes Sand Cloud a new-and-improved version of your current towel, let me tell you!  It has a removable pillow that makes laying down much more comfortable.  On top of that, the Sand Cloud is made of luxurious, high end Turkish fabric that looks great when it is worn as a sarong.  You’ll even have a place to stash your keys!

You can order your own Sand Cloud by clicking here and choosing from one of their awesome color options.  You can also click HERE to see some more info about the company and view their kickstarter page!

Keep scrolling to see the Sand Cloud in action 🙂

Sharing My Parsons Experience!

I am so excited to finally share the work I created during Parsons’ Summer Intensive Studies Program!  Now that I am back home in Southern California, I have a LOT more free time…which means that I have more time to devote to blogging!  I’ve spent the past few days unpacking, preparing for my internship, and relaxing.  It feels great to relax after the month I spent on-the-go in New York!  When I returned home a few days ago, I was eager to share my project from Parsons with my friends and family.  And now, I get to share my project with all of you!

Long story short, the theme of my particular fashion design class was “New York + Light” and we were invited to breathe life into a collection inspired by New York and light.  My collection was inspired by the energy that flowers bring to the city, which is why the clothing is very feminine with a floral-themed “color story.”  Make sure to read my previous post about Parsons in order to see my creative process from start to finish!

You will see that pink top I created (pictured below!) underwent quite a few design changes as the program went on.  Overall, I am extremely happy with the final product – it became more and more unique as I took risks with designs and gained more confidence in my sewing skills!

And here are some more shots of my friends and I exploring the city!

I had a great time at Parsons and enjoyed sharing my experience with you all.  I learned so many valuable skills and met so many wonderful people – it was truly the experience of a lifetime!  Thanks for reading, Pretties!

The City That Never Sleeps

Hello, Pretties!

It feels like forever since I’ve had time to sit down and put a blog post together!  I’ve been working hard in Parson’s Summer Intensive Studies Program (in Fashion Design) for the past few weeks and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share all of my recent experiences!

The course is fast paced since we are learning in a short month what a typical Parsons design student learns in a whole semester.  There have been a lot of homework assignments, field trips, projects, and new concepts involved in the course and I have already learned SO much.  The whole course is geared towards preparing us for our final presentation.  The final presentation consists of 1 constructed garment from our collection, 10 fashion illustrations of our entire collection, and 10 complete “flats” of our collection.  The final presentation is graded by all of our professors during our last class session and is the culmination of all of the work put forth during the Summer Intensive.

In order to prepare us for this big presentation, we have four classes that rotate throughout the week: 2D, 3D, Drawing, and Digital.  In 2D, our professor helps us brainstorm ideas for our clothing line’s concept.  In 3D, we are taught how to construct clothing, create patterns, sew etc.  In Drawing and Digital, we are taught how to create our clothing line by utilizing the art of fashion illustration and photoshop.  Needless to say, we are kept very busy during the week!

On the weekends, we typically finish our homework up and venture out into the city.  My favorite outings so far have been going to tea at The Plaza, a picnic in Central Park, watching a baseball game at Yankee stadium, exploring the dozens of awesome consignment shops in SoHo, and spending a wonderful weekend with my boyfriend (who was kind enough to fly from Los Angeles to spend a weekend exploring NYC with me!).  I want to share my experiences in photos, so please take a scroll through them and let me know if you have any questions about places to visit in NYC (or my experience at Parsons!).  Stay tuned for my next post – it will definitely include my final presentation and constructed garment.  Hopefully, it will all turn out fabulously!  {Many of the photos below are of me and a great group of girls that I was lucky enough to meet at my  Residence Hall.} Enjoy!

Bowtique By Jacqueline + USC Helenes!

This weekend I had the honor of selling my Bowtique By Jacqueline hair bows on USC’s beautiful campus!  My wonderful mother helped me put together a display at USC Helenes’ fundraising event called “Ignite the Night.”  If you don’t already know about Helenes, they are a service sorority.  I was asked to sell my hair bows at their Ignite the Night event because my Alpha Delta Pi Diamond Sister, Lissa, is a Helene!  She put me into contact with some of her girlfriends that were in charge of the event and I put together the bows/presentation that you see below in just 4 days (with some major decorating help from my mom!).  The event had a yummy BBQ dinner, country music, and line dancing!

It was fun to set up a table (it was my first in-person sale!) and chat with some of the girls about what they do as a member of Helenes.  I am really happy that I was able to gain some sales experience while also raising money with a great group of girls!  20% of hair bow sales were donated to the Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Shelter, Helenes’ charity of choice!  You can find out more about the USC Helenes by clicking here.  Here are some more photos from the event:

I have extras that I’d love to sell (and still donate 20% to Helenes’ charity, of course!).  They are one for $7 or two for $12 and I will create a custom listing for you through my Etsy if you are interested!

Tough Lady: Full Skirt + “Rockstud” Heels

I love pairing a feminine, full-skirt with studded accessories!  The unexpected pairing of a girly skirt with edgy accessories creates something that is trendy and ladylike.  I first fell in love with these Valentino “Rockstud” strappy pumps while interning at Valentino.  I am not surprised that they are now extremely popular among fashion bloggers – they are so comfy!  I paired them with a black Prada tote + sunnies for a classic look.  Check out the rest of my sets on Polyvore. I’d love to check out your looks as well, so please leave your Polyvore links in the comments and I’ll make sure to follow!
