Polyvore: Mint + Magenta

Hello, Pretties!

I can’t believe that it is already March 17th – not because it is St. Patty’s Day, but because today is the day that my boyfriend and I fly to MIAMI!  I am so excited.

It will be a day full of traveling, so I am dressing comfortably.  However, if I were not flying all day, I would wear something a lot like this Polyvore set that I just created.  I always gravitate towards mint-colored items because they are a lot more flattering on me than other shades of green.  I’ve recently become obsessed with pairing mint and magenta together, but I needed some “visual inspiration” before I attempted the bold combo myself. So naturally, I turned to Polyvore to experiment!  Here’s what I created:

What are some of your St. Patty’s Day themed Polyvore sets? Leave your links in the comments and I will be sure to check them out!   Enjoy your St. Patty’s Day and sport some MINT so you (hopefully) don’t get pinched.

Also, don’t forget to enter the Pretti Please + Bowtique By Jacqueline Giveaway (Click HERE!) and the $100 Kate Spade Gift Card, Bow Decal, & Custom Glitter Canvas Giveaway (Click HERE)!  Good luck to all of you!

Trending Now: Kimonos

On a recent trip to the mall in LA, I noticed that festival wear is beginning to take over.  Every store I passed had some sort of  kimono in their window!  Not traditional kimonos, but rather the airy, festival-style kimonos that I guarantee you’ve seen on my Pinterest boards as well as in-stores.  Kimonos are popular because they can be paired with jeans, leggings, skirts, shorts, dresses, and can even be worn over a swimsuit.  They’re feminine and versatile, which makes them a staple in my Spring ’14 wardrobe!

Here are my recent kimono obsessions:

Rainy Day Style in LA

Hello, Pretties!

I am LOVING all of the rain that Los Angeles is getting this weekend!  I know it’s dark and gloomy out – but studying for midterms during a weekend of perfect weather just wouldn’t feel right.  Plus, the view of downtown from my apartment building is pretty awesome right now with all of the dark clouds behind the buildings!

It’s crucial to have quality pieces to build a rainy day outfit around.  My rainy day essentials are all neutrals, which means that they can be paired with a variety of outfits fairly easily. Check out my favorites below!

Enjoy!

Pretti Please’s Recent Obsessions!

Hello, Pretties!

Today’s post is all about my February favorites!  Enjoy!

1. The Glitter Guide’s DIY section.
I LOVE everything about this site.  It is girly, glittery, and informative.  I really enjoy their DIY section and check it regularly for new tricks to try!  I am definitely going to try the Glittery Heart Tote DIY as soon as my next crafting binge begins!

2. The Givenchy Antigona Leather Satchel
I literally want all of these.  Every single color… This may be my new “dream bag.”  My personal favorite is the glossy black bag, because it would be the most versatile……or is the metallic gold my favorite?  I’ll just take one of each, please.

{All of these are available at Bergdorf Goodman}

3. Ted Baker’s Women’s Line
Last week, I was perusing the Ted Baker women’s collection during class.  While thoroughly stalking one of last season’s Ted Baker coats, I noticed two of my girlfriends were also following along on my search for this fab coat…peeking over my shoulder.  They agreed, it was to die for.  Nothing bonds college girls like the mutual love for a Ted Baker coat…Check out some of Ted Baker’s Women’s line!

5. Peplum Jackets
Now, you’re probably wondering which Ted Baker jacket my classmates and I were stalking.   It was the Sollel Short Peplum Coat in a dusty pink color that I love (see the picture below!).  I can’t find for sale online anymore…it looks like it sold out!  Even though my Ted Baker peplum seems to be the “one that got away,” there are still TONS of cute peplum jackets out there.  Here are some of my new favorites!

6. My Winnings from The Crystal Feather Boutique Giveaway!
I was so excited when I opened my goodies from The Crystal Feather Boutique! I am always entering blog giveaways, but have never actually won.  I won “Pink Lips & Empty Hearts” by Heather Lindsey, a light pink Essie polish, and a $25 Crystal Feather Boutique gift card (which I used to purchase a beautiful pink + gold sequin hanger!).  This shop is absolutely adorable!

7. “BAD INTENTIONS” Remix by Matt DiMona
I usually don’t blog about music, but I am honestly quite obsessed with the “Bad Intentions (Matt DiMona) – Niykee Heaton” remix.  Matt DiMona, AKA my boyfriend’s roommate, DJs professionally for many events at USC and in the LA area (Julian and I went to watch him perform at Avalon Hollywood a few weeks ago!).  He mixes music in the apartment he shares with Julian and two other guys, which means that we get to hear everything first.  His new song “Bad Intentions” received 30,000 plays on soundcloud in the first 3 days!  The play count is now up to 38,000 – this song is extremely catchy.  He is releasing more songs soon, so be on the lookout.  We listened to “Bad Intentions” probably 10 times on the drive to Maegan and Kristen’s going away party this weekend!  There may or may not be several Snapchats out there of Julian dancing in the passenger seat to this song…

8. Pink + Gold Watches!
I’m all kinds of obsessed with the pink + gold watch combo I keep seeing on Pinterest!
These are a few of my absolute favorites.  Click on each picture to see where you can purchase them!

Vinyl Decal + Glitter | Mason Jar DIY

I love doing DIYs with mason jars! I feel like there are so many decor possibilities for these little mason jars because they are so versatile.  I like working with them because they are great make-up brush or pencil holders and also make for cute gifts!  If you’re looking for the perfect way to decorate your mason jars, look for further! Follow this super quick tutorial and you’ll have a fab mason jar in no time!

Enjoy!

IMG_1221

MATERIALS:

-A mason jar of any size/shape will work for this tutorial.  {Available at Michael’s!}
-GLUE, I used regular Elmer’s glue but you can also use Mod Podge.
-A vinyl decal of some sort {I got mine from BowtiqueByJacqueline!}
-GLITTER
-PAINT BRUSH
*OPTIONAL, but very helpful: a vinyl hook!  I got mine here.

Let’s get started!

STEP 1: Apply your vinyl decal to your jar!  Make sure your jar is clean and dry, then begin by peeling back the top layer of the transfer tape & pressing your design face down on the jar’s surface.  Next, peel back the transfer tape to reveal your design.

{The jar looks great as-is, but we will make your jar even prettier with glitter!}

 IMG_1222 IMG_1224

STEP 2:  And now for the fun part, the glitter bath.  Coat your jar with glue and make sure that the distribution of glue is thick enough to catch a lot of glitter, but not going to run all over the place. I used regular Elmer’s glue because it is thick enough to catch large glitter and won’t run all over!

*TIP: I placed my jar in a shoe box for it’s “bath.” It helps keep the glitter in one place and makes it easier to pour the excess glitter back into the container!

IMG_1231

STEP 3: Cover the entire surface of the jar with glitter & let dry for 2 minutes.

IMG_1232

STEP 4: Before the glue/glitter combination dries, you have to remove the decal and reveal your design – this is where the weeding tool (see materials) comes in handy!!! It was very easy to remove the decal using this tool.  Simply peek into the jar and see where the vinyl decal is hiding below the glitter & gently remove it from the jar’s exterior.  Be patient, you do not want to move around a lot of glitter because it will distort the design!

IMG_1235

STEP 5: Voilà! Let your jar dry & display it!
{I put tissue paper inside my jar so that you could could clearly see the design in photos!}

The finished product!
